Varme receives grant: Turning waste into electricity

With $2.8 million from the industry-funded TIER program, Alberta’s government is advancing Canada’s first industrial-scale waste-to-energy facility using technology.
At ONS 2024, GTH CEO Paal Skoe delivered a presentation that highlighted our groundbreaking work in Canada, focusing on carbon capture and waste-to-energy. The presentation showcased GTH's innovative approaches to addressing environmental challenges through sustainable energy solutions.
GTH participated in several key events during Arendalsuka 2024, a prominent forum for discussing societal issues in Norway. These events provided an excellent opportunity for GTH to meet and discuss with industry leaders in various sectors related to the green transition.

Varme Energy Inc., a subsidiary of GTH, has signed a waste agreement with the City of Edmonton. Scheduled to start by 2027, the initiative aims to divert 150,000 tonnes of residential waste from landfills each year. The project will see the construction of an advanced waste-to-energy facility in Edmonton, focused on sustainable waste management, energy generation and CCS.

Exciting Milestones & Opportunities Ahead
OSLO – Dec 20, 2022 – Green Transition Holding (GTH) has signed an agreement to sell its 49% ownership Green Bio, a bio energy development and asset owning company. Green Bio was established in 2021 to develop a bio energy district heating platform in Norway. Following a year and a half of development, GTH has decided to divest its shareholding. Today Green Bio owns ten operating bio energy plants, with a yearly production of about 20 GWh, as well as one large greenfield project under development. “This has been a successful journey for GTH, developing the Green Bio platform and generating value for both GTH and the other shareholders over the last year and a half. We would like to thank Partner Energy for the partnership and wish them all the best for future growth.” says Paal Skoe, CEO GTH. GTH will use the proceeds from the transaction to further invest in the energy transition.
